CR or Check Raise - Online Poker

'CR' is the abbreviation for check raise in online poker and live games. CR is how the term is commonly referenced at most online poker sites and is also referenced this way within poker writing. A check raise occurs when a player slow plays a hand trying to induce a bluff. Player A, who has a strong hand would check, indicating a weak or unmade hand, to induce the raise from player B. When player B bets, player A would then re-raise the pot.

This can be a good approach to a hand if you don't think a player will commit chips calling an initial bet.
