'Open Ended' - Online Poker

'Open Ended' is an abbreviation for an 'Open Ended Straight Draw'. The terms is generic to poker and is used in both online poker and live games. This means that you can catch a card on either side of the run of cards. An example of this would be the board reading 7-8-9 when you hold A-10. It is open ended as you can catch a J at the high end to make the straight and also the 6 at the low end to make the low straight.

This differs from a straight draw which isn't open ended, for instance a A-2-3 board when you hold K-4. As a straight that consists of an A2 can't include a King on the high end, then the only straight possibilities is hitting the 5.
