A 'Gut Shot' or 'Belly Buster' in live and online poker games are the names for an inside straight draw, which is a draw in which the missing cards that are required to make the straight are from within the middle of the intended sequence. For instance a player with an AQ would have a gut shot if the community cards were dealt as 8-9-10-X-K. You would need a J to make a straight. An inside straight draw can also consist of two of your cards being used. Let's assume you are dealt 10-J and the board reads 6-8-9-K. You would hold a double Belly Buster (or double Gut Shot) in which you would need any 7 or Q to make the straight.
