ABC Poker Player

An ABC player is a player that is very predictable in his style of play. These players are usually the type to have read a book or two and are now following a strategy implicitly, making their play very predictable.

This style can have varying levels of success, largely depending on the quality of the opposition. In low limit games, adopting an ABC style will be more effective, largely due to the less skilled opposition that you will face. It is considerably more difficult to Bluff players out of a hand, so playing a tight game and solid starting hands will be more successful.

As a player moves up to higher limits and more skilled opposition (not the case for all higher limit players!), changing gears and mixing it up and generally being more creative is a must to ensure you keep your opponents guessing. Predictability will be beaten very easily by a skilled player.
